Slab Leaks? Under Concrete Leaks?
Unfortunately, many homeowners don't realize they have
a potential slab leak situation until some major damage occurs to the
home.
Many
homes are built with a concrete slab foundation with galvanize or soft
copper water pipes under the slab. Concrete is then poured over the pipes,
sealing them beneath the slab foundation.
These
pipe are prone to suffer dents, kinks during construction. harsh elements of
being under ground.
PINHOLE LEAKS: The slightest ridge or kink within the pipe will tend to wear
down until it wears through, resulting in a crack or "pinhole leak" in the
pipe. It is usually the hot water pipe that is the first to go, since this
pipe is subject to the expansion and contraction that accompanies heating
and cooling.
When a leak occurs under the concrete slab, it is not easy to fix.
Left un-handled, it can cause floor damage and other problems, including
high heating and water bills.
PLUMBING AID FIX

The leak is located using electronic
leak detector services. Usually the leak is located within a few feet of
the source of the leak.

The area is prepared. Carpeting, furniture, cabinets, etc. are removed if
any in the path of the leak.
Third: We break the floor using a jackhammer, excavate, expose the
broken pipe, patch the pipe and test for other leaks.
